Leconfield Jackaroo and Jillaroo School - 11 days of adventure!
All the info on our 11 day courses

General

The training school runs over a period off 11 days with groups of up to 25 people per course. The aim of the Jackaroo and Jillaroo course is to provide basic training for people with minimal or no experience, so that their employment prospects are increased. Jillaroo and Jackaroo jobs are eagerly sought after and those without experience or skills are at a great disadvantage

All training during the course will be done 'on the job'. Leconfield is a working property and the skills and techniques used will be explained and demonstrated, then carried out by trainees under supervision. The tasks you will be taught are those actually carried out in the normal running of the property. By the end of the course trainees should be able to carry out routine/basic tasks unsupervised and more skilled jobs with minimal supervision.

Costs and inclusions

The eleven day course costs $950.00 Australian. This cost includes all accommodation. Female sleeping quarters are in the homestead, and male sleeping quarters are in the property cottage, roughly 100 metres from the main house. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided every day, served in the main house and prepared by the homestead cook.

On completion of the course, all student will receive a reference stating the areas of training and general proficiency attained. We will also endeavor to assist in the placement of trainees seeking employment on the land.

Although the course is basically a training course, we like to make the sessions as fun as possible. Students who have already attended the course all agree that they have learned a lot about the land, but have also had great fun. You can read some of the student evaluations here. For anybody wanting a country holiday where they will be participating in the normal running of a grazing property, we can highly recommend this school
